AI Appears Twice in Louisiana. That's No Accident.

For the better part of a decade, I've been building a new model for disaster relief. With Ground Force (you knew us as Cajun Navy Ground Force), we did it data-driven and systemized — SAFE Camps embedded in the disaster zone, trained citizen volunteers, and a remote team running logistics so we could reach the people everyone else forgets: the elderly and the disabled. That's the work. That's the mission. It always will be. Here's the thing nobody says out loud: there hasn't been a major U.S. disaster since Hurricane Helene in 2024. And that's good news for two reasons. First — no disasters is ALWAYS a good thing. Our livelihood depends on the funds we raise to respond, but I have never once wished for the terrible circumstances a hurricane or tornado brings. Not ever. Second — it gave me time. And I don't sit still. For the past six months I've spent 12 to 16 hours a day building, learning, and sharing — going deep on AI as a software engineer and innovator, and as Director of New Orleans Startup Grind. Out of that came a new venture: an AI consultancy helping businesses and training our South Louisiana community. The goal is bigger than a business. We want to make South Louisiana an AI powerhouse — nationwide. We believe it can be done. Because AI shifted the power. It's not about who's at the top of the org chart anymore. It's in the hands of the most creative and the most connected. AI is a new medium for creation. If you're a painter, it's a new color on your palette. If you're a poet, it's a quill in your hand. If you're a singer, it's a new instrument behind the melody. And THAT is exactly what Louisiana is made of. Poets. Painters. Musicians. Artists. (While I'm at it — it's not lost on me that the letters a-i show up in our state's name, Louisiana, not once, but twice. 😉 Call it a sign.) So here's where it's landed. Disaster season is around the corner, and when the next one hits, I will be there — same as always. But until then, my team and I are taking the exact same systemized, data-driven approach I brought to natural disasters and pointing it at something new: helping the fast-growing trades across the South. Electricians. Plumbers. HVAC. Roofers. Even the specialized folks — mat services, signage. The demand for what we do is high, and the niche is clear. We handle their marketing, their call answering, and their back-office work — reliably — so they can get back to the thing they're great at: taking care of their customers. The peace of mind of knowing none of it is slipping through the cracks? That lets a business owner actually sleep at night. Same mission, really. Help people. Build the system. Show up when it counts. More jobs. Less busywork. And when the storm comes, we'll be ready.
